The Machining Center Embraces Digital Quoting to Compete & Scale

The Machining Center (TMC) gains speed, consistency, and scalability with quoting platform Paperless Parts.

Belleville, ON, CAN – The Machining Center, a leading Ontario-based provider of mechanical solutions through machining, fabrication, laser cutting, and design, has partnered with Paperless Parts to modernize its quoting process, supporting a fast-growing team and customer base.

For years, quoting at TMC was handled using a mix of printed materials, handwritten notes, and their internal quote database. “There are about five of us involved in quoting, and as demand increased, it became clear we needed a more efficient way to manage our time,” said Kevin Wolters, owner of TMC. “We’ve been consistently busy in spite of hiring five new people in the past year, and quoting had become a key bottleneck we needed to solve to continue growing effectively.”

Paperless Parts now enables TMC to quote more consistently. “Everyone here used to have their unique way of quoting,” said Sarah Wolters, Co-Owner and Executive Administrative Assistant. “Paperless Parts made us take a hard look at our internal quoting strategy and refine it across the board. Now, everything flows through a standardized process.” The team also noted how helpful it’s been to centralize their quoting activities and collaborate through the platform’s secure communication tools.

By removing manual steps from the quoting process, TMC is freeing up engineering talent to focus on higher-value work. “Paperless is a tool we can give our managers, who are our top problem solvers,” Kevin said. “When they spend less time quoting, they can think about better ways to machine parts, manage materials, or find new ways internally to gain efficiencies.” Sarah agreed: “If Paperless Parts is helping keep our most talented employees focused on optimizing how we work, it quickly pays for itself.”

TMC completed Paperless Parts’ onboarding process last week, which they found to be flexible and impressively tailored to their shop. “The onboarding wasn’t one-size-fits-all; it was customized to our unique needs and fit seamlessly into our existing workflow,” said Sarah. “We didn’t have to throw out what was already working for us.”

Looking ahead, the team is excited to dive into analytics and continue refining their quoting process to drive long-term success.

“We’re excited to see what the future holds for our partnership with The Machining Center,” said Jason Ray, CEO and Co-Founder of Paperless Parts. “We’re proud to support their team with technology that adapts as they grow and creates more time for progress and innovation.”
